The H1 and the Starex are one van, not two
Hyundai sells this van as the H1 in some markets and the Starex in others, and both names are in daily use here. It is one vehicle, and Hyundai says so itself: its model history introduces the H-1 as the van also known as the Starex. So we list it once under both names rather than twice. You will find it whichever name you search for, and the seven seats and six large bags are the same either way.
Why we sell fewer seats than the factory fits
Hyundai builds this van as a nine- or twelve-seater, and Toyota sells the Hiace Bus with thirteen occupants including the driver. We sell seven and eleven. The difference is the luggage: the rearmost row is where six or ten large bags actually go, and a group filling every factory seat has nowhere left to put them. Selling seats and bags as one honest pair is what this class is for.
Where the manufacturer figures stop
Toyota Saudi Arabia publishes the Hiace Bus at 5,915 mm with a 3.5-litre petrol at 277 hp or a 2.8-litre turbodiesel at 161 hp. Hyundai lists no H1 or Starex on its Saudi site at all, so the 5,150 mm length and the 2.4 petrol and 2.5 diesel range come from its global brochure, labelled as global rather than dressed up as a Saudi sheet. Neither manufacturer publishes a luggage volume for a seated van; the 6.2 and 9.3 cubic metre figures on Toyota's site are the cargo Hiace with its rear seats removed. Our bag counts are our own operated figures and are stated as such.
Which van, and when the class is wrong
Seven passengers with up to six large bags: the Hyundai. Eleven with up to ten: the Hiace. More than eleven, or eleven passengers each with two checked cases, belongs in a minibus rather than here. Declaring the luggage at the search stage is what moves the results, and the search page is a far better place to discover that than the airport kerb.
